Can Core Air Systems Kill COVID-19?

What Research Has Been Done to Show This?

3rd-party testing was carried out by the Spanish Ministry of Defense Biological Laboratory to test the effectiveness of Core Air Systems against Coronavirus. The independent testing was set up in the following way:

The independent testing was carried out inside of a hotel converted into a residence for medical staff during the pandemic. The experiment took place in simulated ICU hospital rooms inside the hotel.

In order to test the efficacy of the product against Coronavirus, 2 log units of MS2 Bacteriophage, the surrogate used for testing Coronavirus, were nebulized into the room. Core Air Systems were installed into the ventilation system to test their efficacy at reducing the virus. Upon testing, the researchers found the ionized air experienced a reduction of approximately 2 log units (99%) of the bacteriophage after 10 minutes. Surface samples were also taken to test the product's efficacy at reducing Coronavirus on surfaces. Upon testing, the surface samples showed an 80% reduction in the bacteriophage after 10 minutes.

The levels of MS2 bacteriophage were measured using Electrical Low-Pressure Impactors, the Spanish authorities' calibrated equipment for detecting biothreats.

How Does Core Air Systems Kill Viruses?

Core Air Systems utilizes needlepoint bipolar ionization to purify indoor air. Core Air Systems work by releasing charged ions into the air, which are then blown into the occupied space by the HVAC system fan. Because the ions are unstable, they seek out an atom or molecule with an opposite charge to bond with. As virus cells divide to reproduce, they bond with the charged ions and are destroyed.
